I met Cam and Callen for the first time several years back at a wedding I photographed in Wenatchee. Fast forward to today, and I got to photograph their romantic summer sunset maternity photos overlooking the Wenatchee Valley. I have transitioned to film photography, but recently had to send my Contax 645 medium format film camera, in for repairs. I applied everything I have learned about film to this session, kept it slow and purposeful and edited with Noble presets for a film aesthetic. Shooting film forces you to slow down and “savor the moment” per se, each image should tell its own unique story. I like to keep my clients in one location and move freely around them finding unique perspectives and directing subtle movements to capture their emotion. Creating connection is key to romantic photos, a subtle head tilt, a hand on the belly, eyes closed all evoke emotion and help tell the narrative.
