Jake and Sheryl’s boho winter engagement photos in Leavenworth were romantic and cozy. There was no shortage of snow in the mountains outside Leavenworth, Washington. Wrapped up in a vintage Navajo blanket Jake and Sheryl brought a cozy boho vibe to their winter engagement photos.
They walked along their favorite snow-covered one-lane bridge. You can really see their connection, as their body language spoke for themselves. I really only try to guide my couples into their poses, suggesting subtle cues. Film gives me a unique opportunity to step back and wait for the moments to unfold instead of carelessly pressing the shutter in hopes of capturing something great.
Since transitioning to film my keep rate has increased exponentially. When I shot digital I would take over 500 images and deliver approximately 125 (that’s only a 25% keep rate) mostly, because all the excess images were duplicates. Now that I have transitioned to film I take 5-7 rolls of film per portrait session, which yields approximately 152 images. For this session, I delivered 146 images (which is a 96% keep rate).
Photographed entirely on film, Kodak Portra 400 on medium format and 35mm really brings out the boho vibe in this Leavenworth winter engagement session.
