Kacey & Zach’s Karama Vineyard wedding was straight out of a fairytale, the colors, the details, the dress, all divine! Kacey carefully curated each and every detail to tell the story of their romantic wedding. Kacey in her tulle Lazaro bridal ball gown and Zach in his grey slim lined suit paired elegantly against the vineyard backdrop. Kacey and Zach planned their August 22, 2015 wedding from Alabama, where they live. None of us could have prepared for the intense fire season we had this summer. The weekend of the wedding the south shore of Lake Chelan was burning, several locations were out of power, except Karma Vineyards. Kacey & Zach’s wedding went wonderfully, besides the hazy skies (which made for some of the most ethereal photos) you would hardly know. Cheers to the couple for being so fun loving and hiring an amazing wedding planner, Colleen Simpson who had every detail ironed out for the most flawless day!
The brides details:
Kacey wore a Lazaro tulle bridal ball gown, with a strapless sweetheart neckline, accented with floral embroidery, and an embroidered lace overlay and jewel adorned sash. Her tiered veil fell to the floor and extended at least 3 more feet, the most magical bridal accessory to photograph. She wore Kate Spade gold glittered heels, Thomas Knoell drop earrings and BHLDN bracelet, a beautiful Tiffany ring, and a flirty blush tulle, bow garter.
The Flowers:
The bridal bouquets was stunning, the peonies, the roses, the touch of peach surrounded by perfect shades of blush was a work of art. Fleur De Lis Floral & Design in Lake Chelan always creates the most stunning bridal bouquets, always hearty, fresh, and fragrant. Florals are some of my favorite details to photograph.
The Bridal Party:
The bridesmaids wore beautiful Donna Morgan blush gowns in different styles and lengths from Nordstrom. the Groomsmen wore slim fitting grey formal suits from Mills Bros. in Wenatchee. The two colors combined created such an ethereal look, blush and grey pair perfectly together against a vineyard backdrop. The girls wore jewelry from BHLDN, one of my favorite bridal shops, I could get lost in the downtown Seattle Anthropologie for hours swooning over the BHLDN bridal accessories.
The Ceremony:
The ceremonies at Karma Vinyeards are unlike any other in Lake Chelan, all the guests including the wedding party are shuttled up the hillside in a trolly. The bride and groom stand at the edge of the hill overlooking the lake. The sky was hazy due to the fires, so the view was not it’s best, but the lighting was phenomenal, it’s not everyday you get this kind of lighting at 5:30pm in August, I loved it! As a photographer I love that I can position myself to get all angels of the couple and bridal party, my second photographer Katie got some amazing candids of the couple, especially during the kiss.
Sunset Portraits:
Sunset portraits are my absolute favorite, a non negotiable in my mind. There is no other time in the day that you get the ethereal, warm, whimsical lighting like you do just before the sun dips behind the mountains. This is my time to shine, nerves are settled, the bride and groom are “official” the hard part is over, now they get to dance the night away and this is when those fairytale images are created. I take a soft, romantic approach when posing my couples. During this time, I pull the groom aside and remind him that this is her fairytale, the day she has dreamed about since she was a little girl, I suggest that he acts as her prince charming by taking her hand, fluffing her veil, twirling her. I always try to infuse movement in all my posing, giving subtle directing, simply guiding them, I often tell them that I am not here to “choreograph” their day but simply to “guide” it. I try to remain authentic in my posing, to offer subtle suggestions, such as, gently kiss her temple, lean in, hold her veil, dance with her.
The Reception:
After I have snagged my hour of sunset photos, the bride and groom are whisked away for their grand entrance to their reception. Karma Vineyards has beautiful bamboo chairs at every table, which are nestled between rows of grapevines, lights are strung overhead for an intimate dinner, catered by Karma’s in house restaurant, 18 BRIX.
