We celebrated Lucas’s 1st birthday with a brunch styled garden party with vintage elements. My inspiration came while Lucas and I were out thrifting, Lucas loves when we go out and find little treasures, so I thought it would be fun to style a party around our thrifted finds. However, this idea was much more challenging than I had envisioned, so Heather of HRJ Events suggested I stick to a color pallet and go from there. I ordered these sweet little elephant invites from Minted and designed the rest around those. Josie from Chalk Chic Mama had the idea to hand letter some old windows I had for Lucas’s birth details and menus, they turned out so perfect! My favorite element of the party was “a year of Lucas” a simple peice of plywood with a 4×4 photo of Lucas from birth-12 months. Josie handlettered his name at the top and Heather added some greenery to make it extra special. I wanted to welcome spring so I ordered tulips, ranunculus, purple wax flowers, and ruscus to frame the windows and add extra greenery around the decor. We had the yummiest chocolate cake from Cupcake blues and the sweetest cookies made by Stefanie Rosales.
Lucas’s birthday was so wonderful and special, there wasn’t an agenda, we served brunch, visited, let the kiddos play and eat treats, we sang happy birthday and popped some confetti, Lucas carefully enjoyed his cake, then opened his gifts. The older kids played with the gifts, we cleaned up and visited some more. It was so wonderfully relaxed for a kids birthday party. It was one I will for sure remember for a lifetime.
